Dolce Gusto is a coffee machine and capsule brand produced by Nestle. The production process of Dolce Gusto capsules involves several key steps.
1.Capsule design and production:
Material: Capsules are typically made from a combination of plastic and aluminum. Plastic is used for the main body of the capsule, while aluminum is typically used for the lid and helps with pressure and extraction processes.
Manufacturing: Capsules are manufactured using injection molding of plastic components. We will add barrier type material EVOH inside the cup, which can prevent water and oxygen. Aluminum caps are typically produced through separate processes involving stamping and sealing.
What’s more, our capsule can hold 2 different kinds of material, one is ground coffee, the other is solubles. We designed 2 different types of bottom filter to face on the material needing.
2.Filling and sealing:
Coffee grounds: Capsules contain pre ground coffee or other ingredients, such as tea or hot chocolate powder. The types of coffee used are carefully selected and roasted to ensure quality.
Sealing: After filling, the capsule is sealed to keep the contents fresh. This is done precisely to ensure that the coffee is not affected by moisture and air, which may affect its flavor and freshness.
Dolce Gusto capsules use a two-step foil sealing process to ensure the freshness and quality of the coffee inside:
- Plastic seal: Inside the capsule, a thin plastic film is used to form an initial seal around the coffee grounds. This layer helps protect coffee from moisture and air, which is crucial for maintaining freshness.
- Aluminum cover sealing: After the plastic film is in place, seal the aluminum foil cover on top of the capsule. This external aluminum layer is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the capsule during storage and transportation. The aluminum lid provides additional moisture and oxygen barriers, further helping to maintain the flavor and aroma of coffee.
This two-step sealing process ensures that the coffee remains fresh and delicious before using the capsule. The combination of plastic and aluminum sealing technology aims to keep coffee in the best condition and prevent quality degradation.
3.Quality Control:
Testing: Conduct quality control checks throughout the entire production process to ensure accurate capsule filling, correct sealing, and compliance with size and quality requirements standards.
Packaging: Once the capsules pass quality control, they will be packaged into boxes for distribution. The packaging process aims to protect the capsules and make them easy for consumers to handle.
4.Distribution:
Logistics: Finished capsules are distributed to retailers and customers around the world. The distribution process involves careful handling to ensure that the capsules are delivered intact to consumers.
The Dolce Gusto system is renowned for its variety of beverage options and the convenience of capsule based brewing methods. The company invests in research and development to continuously improve the quality and scope of its products.
